Start with pictures. Google, Instagram, Pinterest, wedding catalogs, ANYTHING to get inspiration. There are so many great references out on the internet. You can start your search pretty general and hone in on the specifics once you find something you’re interested in. Take into consideration the vibe of your wedding, your dress, the amount of hair you have, etc. Save every image you can to show your stylist during your bridal trial.

search examples: updo for short hair, boho wedding hair, wedding hair with flower crown, loose curls for fine hair, etc.

Book a bridal trial.

To ensure that you are getting EXACTLY what you want, it is important to book a trial for your hair and makeup. Because spring and summer weddings are SO popular, it’s best to claim your spot as early as possible! We recommend booking an appointment with one of our stylists 4-6 weeks out from your wedding day – but book this early on!

Trial day.

Consultations are SO important during your bridal trial. Your stylist wants to know all the details: How well does your hair hold curls? Is the wedding indoors or outside? Are you prone to going frizzy in humidity? What is your everyday makeup routine?

Have your plethora of pictures ready – Your stylist will be able to catch onto the theme or your style quickly! Have hair inspiration, photos of makeup you are interested in, pictures of the dresses, and the colors of your wedding at your disposal. That way, we can make recommendations for you to make sure everything is perfect. You would be surprised that the hair can be modified to fit the neckline of your dress!

Also bring in any and all accessories. Flower crowns, statement earrings, extensions, a tiara – we want to see how we can incorporate both your pieces and your hair to coincide with each other!

Don’t be afraid to tell your stylist if something isn’t working!  We are here to make you feel like the most beautiful version of yourself. It doesn’t hurt our feelings! Be vocal and let us know what is working for you and what isn’t.

We want your makeup to best represent you.  If you are planning on spray tanning for you wedding day, also try to book a spray tan trial a couple days before your makeup trial. Ever had false eyelashes? You can try them out and wear them for the day to see if they are a good candidate for you! Our makeup artists also have air brush options to lock in your foundation for the entire day – rain or shine!

At the end of your trial service, take pictures! They will be perfect to resort back to come day of.

The time between the trial and wedding day.

If you are planning on making any big hair changes, keep us in the loop! A big chop can totally change the plan of action. Also, keep your skin routine as is. Nothing is worse than experimenting a week before the wedding and breaking out in a reaction! Your makeup artist may give you recommendations for the meantime.

Is your fiance looking shaggy? We recommend that grooms come in for a haircut 10 days before the wedding so their hair is lived in and accommodating to any condition.

Make sure you fill your wedding party in on their designated looks! We want to make sure everything is cohesive (but not the same) so that your wedding party is most definitely “squad goals!”

The big day.

Come with not-so-dirty-not-so-clean hair. If the hair is too dirty, it may be hard to mask any excessive oils in the hair. If the hair is too clean, it may not be able to hold any curl. We typically recommend to wash the day/night before, but this may vary!

Come fresh-faced! It’s a lot easier to work on a blank canvas than to work around makeup that is already there. Make sure to have washed your face, applied moisturizer, and ran chapstick over your lips in the morning to prepare for a long day of makeup wearing!

Also wear a shirt that can easily be removed. Pulling a t-shirt over your head can totally disrupt the hair and makeup. We recommend button ups, flannels, and kimonos!

Enjoy yourself.
